Rushan is under the jurisdiction of Weihai City, Shandong Province. It governs the Rushan Economic Development Zone and Yintan Tourism Resort at provincial level, 14 towns, 1 street, and 601 administrative villages in total. Total land area in Rushan is 1,665km², the population is 560,000.

1. Natural Environment

Rushan is located in the gold south coast of Shandong Peninsula, it is close to the “magical latitude” northern latitude 37°, belongs to warm temperate zone and oceanic monsoon climate. It is close to mountains and sea, four seasons are distinctive, there is no severe cold in winter nor intense heat in summer, the annual average temperature is 11.3℃, relative air humidity is 70%, quality of the air and water is better than national standard, daily average value of PM2.5 is about 34 microgram/m³, number of days with excellent air quality every year in the whole city is more than 300 days, there are more than 80 centenarians alive, and it is honored as one of the best cities most suitable for human habitation.

2. Locational Conditions

Rushan, Japan and Korea are separated by the sea. Rushan is located in the central area of Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai, it is close to three ports and three air ports of eastern Shandong province. Jinan-Weihai railway, Qingdao-Weihai High Speed, 309 National Highway traverse from east to west; Yantai-Haiyang High Speed and 207 provincial highway traverse from north to south; intercity No. 2 express railroad connecting Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai will have a stop in Rushan, after its construction, it only takes five hours to go to Shanghai and Beijing directly. The Rushankou Bridge to be built is the longest sea-crossing bridge in Weihai and the first suspension bridge in Shandong Province. It takes only one hour from Rushan to Qingdao after it is open to traffic.

3. Leisure Tourism

Rushan has complete tourism elements, “mountain, sea, bay, beach, island, spring” ecological resources are rich. 12 bays and 22 islands are located along 199km coastal line. It has three grade 4A scenic spots: Yintan, Daru Mountain and Furudonghai Cultural Park and eight grade 3A scenic spots including Juyu Mountain, Duofu Mountain, Xiaotang Hot Spring and Shengshui Palace, etc., over 30 million person-time tourists are received every year.

Yintan: it is named while the sand beach is as white as silver. The coastline stretches for more than 20km with various bathing beaches and marinas which is honored as “Eastern Hawaii” and “the first beach in the world”.

Furudonghai Cultural Park: it covers an area of 700 mu with five theme parks of “Blessing, Longevity, Health, Peace and Happiness”. It is a comprehensive functional area integrating culture, entertainment, leisure and ecology.

Daru Mountain: it centers on the round and straight Daru Mountain; mountains, sea and bays are connected with each other; the lake, sea and beach enhance each other’s beauty; which is honored as “Sanya in north”. In the 21^st United Nations Climate Change Conference, it was introduced as the typical of ecological restoration to the whole world.

4. Material Resources

Rushan is a famous town of fruits and aquatic products, with six geographical indications of national agricultural products including apples, peanuts, green tea, bartletts, strawberries and cherries and eighteen certified trademarks of geographical indication including ginger, tea, Chinese chestnuts, apples, bartletts, grapes, cherries, blueberries, prawn, grasshopper sub shrimp paste, clam, scallop, stichopus japonicus, peanuts and Qinmi, etc. It is the first batch of Exported Agricultural Products Quality Safety Demonstration Area of China and National Green Food Raw Material Standardization Production Base, of which, planting area of apples is 250,000 mu with annual productivity of 400,000 tons; planting area of peanuts is 280,000 mu with annual productivity of 77,000 tons; planting area of gingers is 50,000 mu with annual productivity of 300,000 tons; planting area of blueberries is 11,000 mu with annual productivity of 3,000 tons; aquaculture area of oysters is 80,000 mu with annual productivity of 300,000 tons. 

5. Health Care

The city has 458 health institutions with various types, 2,173 beds, 2,300 health technicians, 1 general hospital of Grade III Class B, 1 Grade II Class A Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. Yintan Second People’s Hospital, Maternal and Child Health Hospital and other township hospitals which provide excellent medical care for the development of the rehabilitation and health preserving industry.

6. Talents Support

There are more than 20 universities in Qingdao, Yantai and Weihai, which output about 100,000 talents above bachelor degree every year; Shangdong Vocational College of Foreign Affairs Translation and Weihai Mechanical Engineering Senior Technical School in Rushan output more than 6,000 talents every year, and train more than 10,000 person times in short term. Rushan has established a high-tech research and development base for overseas Chinese talents, Li Guibai academician workstation, Sun Yinghao academician workstation, and other high-end scientific research and innovation platforms. It has formulated a talent introduction and reward policy, high-level innovative and entrepreneurial talents will be given RMB0.5 million to RMB3 million as the entrepreneurial start-up funds. 7. Cultural Inheritance

Rushan is famous for “Daru Mountain” in its territory, it is the hometown of the famous writer Feng Deying, and the location where the story Bitter Herbs, Jasminum Nudiflorum and Wild Chrysanthemum happened, it is the nationwide famous place where ten warriors fought in Mashi Mountain, it is the national patriotism education and demonstration base.
